My Favourite Hertfordshire Wedding Venues

Joanne Lewis • 24 November 2019

You've found your photographer, but have you booked your venue yet?

I’ve officially shot my last wedding for 2019… Thank you to all my couples for trusting me to document your special day. I have to admit, the feeling of butterflies in my stomach on the morning of my weddings never ceases to leave me, because I’m always aware what an awesome responsibility being a wedding photographer is, and it really is such a passion for me. I’m eternally greatful for the opportunity to tell the story of one of the most important days in a couple’s life and help create memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Most of my weddings are in and around Hertfordshire, London, Essex, Bedfordshire and Cambridge, although I do travel throughout the UK and to destinations.

I’d love to share with you some of my favourite venues in Hertfordshire to consider for your wedding.
Tewin Bury Farm – Welwyn
Tewin Bury Farm Hall
Tewin Bury Farm is a 4 Star Hotel set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. Their uniquely converted farm buildings run alongside the Mimram river and they offer an exquisite fusion of old and new which will not disappoint. Tewin Bury Farm can accommodate everything from small civil ceremonies of up to 60 people in the Millstream Suite to 350 guests for a seated meal and up to 500 guests for an evening reception in the contemporary Meadow Barn. My personal favourites though, are the 17th Century red brick Stable and Tythe Barn with their exposed wooden beams and its beautiful solid oak floor, a minstrels’ gallery overlooking the reception venue, and a lovely walk-way bridge over the river, which takes you and your party onto your own private patio and meadow overlooking the river Mimram.
Hanbury Manor – Ware

From a small, intimate gathering, to a large, extravagant party - Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is the perfect back-drop. Their stately Jacobean-style hotel is located on 200 sprawling acres of immaculately landscaped grounds and provides the perfect fairy-tale setting for wedding photos you'll treasure forever. The magnificent function rooms offer sweeping views and captivating surroundings for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party. And if you're looking for a private setting with charming garden, choose the intimate Garden Court.
Ponsbourne Hotel – Newgatestreet Village
Ponsbourne Park Hotel in beautiful grounds of Hertfordshire countryside
The house and gardens offer the perfect venue for a stylish yet intimate occasion to share with your family and friends.

Award-winning chefs conjure up culinary heaven with a range of menus showcasing the very best of British and continental cuisine. Opt for a relaxed buffet or a more traditional and formal meal for your guests with all dietary requirements catered for.
A selection of luxury bedrooms and suites can accommodate wedding parties both large and small meaning everything can come together simply and neatly in one location, the ultimate in ease and convenience for your guests and the bridal party.
The space and ambience of Ponsbourne with its unrushed style and hospitality will mean your guests will love to linger with plenty to keep them entertained and occupied in this beautiful location. Create a day to remember with photos and shared memories to treasure for your lifetime together.
Fanhams Hall - Ware
Fanhams Hall Hotel Grade 2 Listed Jacobian Mansion Ware
Set in 27 acres of stunning grounds, Fanhams Hall is a grade 2 listed Jacobean mansion tucked away in the Hertfordshire countryside. A rare balance of relaxed comfort, informal surroundings and impeccable service, Fanhams Hall is my favourite location for engagement shoots just a few minutes from my studio. The historical Long Gallery and Great Hall, as well as grade 2 listed Japanese tea house and fountain plaza, make for picture perfect weddings.
This is where I got married, and so it holds a special place in my heart…
With their majestic tree-studded lawns and impressive indoor and outdoor settings, the Hertfordshire is a wonderful venue at which to get married.
A grand Broxbournebury Mansion is one of the most picturesque locations, and a witness to many stories of love. Once owned by a prominent Bosanquet family, the mansion was celebrated for its renowned rose garden, grown by the mistress of the house herself, who even established her own kind the rose named after the family.
With a year-round green golf course, you have a choice of wonderous locations to capture the most fulfilling photos to cherish every moment of your grand day.
As one year ends, another begins… I still have a limited amount of availability for weddings in 2020 and 2021. No matter where you're having your wedding, if you love the images here on my website and are looking for an unobtrusive photographer to document your big day, then I would really love to hear from you.

Gift Voucher for Photography Sessions
by Joanne Lewis 26 November 2020
I couldn't let Black Friday 2020 go by without some amazing deals for my wonderful and valued customers... I've missed you all so much this year, but have loved the few shoots I was able to squeeze in between lockdowns and Home Education. With all the optimism I can muster for next year (I am naturally a pretty positive person) I am offering some spectacular deals on vouchers for my Hertford Studio and outdoor or on-location sessions next year (packages may be given as gifts, but please confirm preferred locations around Hertfordshire and some parts of London, Cambridgeshire and Essex with me before booking).
