What is Personal Brand Photography?

Are you an entrepreneur? Do you run your own business? Read on...

You may have seen some of my recent blog posts titled Personal Brand Photography and been left thinking "what is that about"?

I realised, that despite getting lots of branding photography shoots from local entrepreneurs via word of mouth, I haven't actually described this service on my website, so for those of you who would like to know more - here you go.

Personal brand photography is, in essence, corporate photography for the modern world. In particular I believe it is great for small businesses who want to show their clients who they are - the personal identity behind the brand. As an entrepreneur today, you are your business and using photos that show the real you will help to bring your brand to life.

I've noticed many local businesses posting regularly on social media using stock photography. While this can sometimes gain some attention and help to support the post (because a picture tells a thousand words), it doesn't draw potential customers in by showing them who you are. This is especially important when you are the face of your business. But I'm not just talking headshots.

The images on your Facebook, instagram and website are often the first thing your potential clients see - and people these days have short attention spans - you need to excite your potential customers ...quickly.

Whether you are in business as a toddler's music class teacher, Tai Chi Qigong instructor, birth doula, jewellery maker, road safety officer or a dance choreographer; it’s never been more important to show more of you in your business. You have to make sure that you're making the best first impression possible.

There is a lot of noise out there, so it’s essential that you build a brand that stands out from the crowd and excites your potential customers. You need inspiring photos that help you do just that.

Imagine having a selection of varied photos that show every aspect of your business, from the person your clients see, to behind the scenes planning, detail shots of props, and of course those all important fun, relaxed and natural headshots. This is exactly what you get with personal brand photography.

In addition to my photography, training, and editing skills, I have a postgraduate diploma in marketing, and 7 years experience in marketing representing multinational companies such as SKY. I understand branding and marketing and know how to capture images that will show the heart and soul of your business. I know how to create inspiring imagery that will appeal to your dream clients.

I work with all my clients in advance of our shoot to help them discover how they want their brand to look and feel (including logos colours and themes if this is something that is required) to help create authentic and consistent images that show your customers who you are and what you stand for.

Now, I know you probably don't like having your photograph taken - most of us don't - I think I became a photographer so I could stay firmly on this side of the camera. But I promise, I only provide the best images that show the best of you and the services or products you offer. I recently had a message from Suzanne at babacool who said:

"I rarely see a photograph of me that I like, but they were fab!"

Ok, I know it's not the longest review in the world - but for me that said it all - I want you to love yourself in the photos I take - and so far I have a 100% track record.

If you're not already putting out a consistent brand message, I guarantee you are missing out on vital potential customers. Imagine how great it will feel when it’s all done and you have a great selection of images you can use across your website and on social media.

I actually put myself on the wrong side of the camera recently for a family shoot in our home, and I'm telling you, when the photographer turned up I was sweating and felt so awkward, but within 10 minutes, the nerves had dissipated and I found myself actually enjoying it!

We always think we’re not photogenic enough, skinny enough, stylish enough. But you are enough, I promise!

My Personal Brand Photography shoots are a mixture of posed, planned, and natural lifestyle shots. I will capture everything you need to post new images regularly and gain a following.

If you run a local business and are interested in my Personal Brand Photography please contact me via my online form. I work with all sorts of businesses around Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridge and London, from small 1 man (or woman) sole-trader local businesses to large firms and franchises who are looking to consolidate their brand and send a consistent message to their clients about who they are and what they represent.

During a full day shoot, I can come in and provide enough images to post daily to social media for 3 months. I capture everything from the detail shots of products and premises, to action shots of you at work, planning, attending meeting and running your classes, to professional headshots. We will have a full planning meeting and set a thorough brief to ensure your photos represent your brand.

I also provide mini 1 hour shoots for small businesses including around 20-30 great images to help get you started with a consistent brand image.
Something I'm very passionate about is the environment, and sourcing local and sustainable products. My friend and fellow photographer from Bailie and Belle Photography in St Albans has written a great blog on bringing up an eco friendly baby. If you sell eco products please get in contact - I would love to work with you.
